Bonito Gordo (1 Day)

Explore the hills of Taganga on a nature walk to a secluded beach in Tayrona National Park.

Situated over the southern hills from Taganga, Bonito Gordo was originally an agricultural area for the local population, farming goats and cows, here to you could find ocelots hunting deer. Today only a few farmers remain as the tropical dry forest is no longer suitable for raising large herds of cattle, however numerous native trees remain including Rosewood and Balsa, and many native plants. Two hours from Taganga, walking on a rough trail to a height of 500 meters you reach a viewpoint over the entire area of Taganga and the city of Santa Marta; from there it is a further two hours to the bay of Bonito Gordo.
